The LJ Hooker family love getting involved in the community and what better way to show our support to animals in need than by participating in the RSPCA Million Paws Walk.
SHAPES, sizes and breeds didn’t matter on the Great Lawn for the annual Million Paws Walk.
Almost 3000 Gold Coasters turned out to the RSPCA fundraiser at Broadwater Parklands yesterday, but their four legged-friends stole the show, dressed in everything from hot dogs to rock stars. They walked 3km to raise money for the fight against animal cruelty.
Hamish Krammer, who travelled from Brisbane to attend the walk with his Maremma Sheepdogs Boo and Bundy, said the cause was close to this heart.
“Boo is a rescue animal. She was found by the RSPCA on a farm in Gympie.”
Ava Beutel, 9, and her rescue Fox Terrier cross Whippet Lilly also walked the talk with Mouse the Dachshund and Angel the Cavoodle in tow.
“I think it’s very important to rescue dogs because dogs are like humans, they have feelings,“ Ava said.
RSPCA Gold Coast manager Pam Cordell said it was hoped $640,000 would be raised across Queensland this year.
“We also definitely would like people to consider rehoming a rescue dog to give them a second chance at a good home.”
